Further Radio Fun
I’ve been playing around with my own personal streaming radio station. It’s pretty easy to get setup, and with the Nicecast app on OS X it becomes uber simple to stream whatever I want from my laptop to the web. I’ve been playing around with things, and it seems like it wouldn’t be all that hard to have my music rsync’d nightly up to my server, provide a wep app that can facilitate building playlists, and have those lists pushed via icecast2. I’d then be able to basically treat my own music collection like RDIO where I can listen pretty much anywhere via my Android phone.
Speaking of RDIO I’ve gotten my phone working with XiiaLive Lite, and I can pretty easily build a rocking playlist in RDIO, then via Nicecast stream this into my radio station, then use my phone to jack into it. So it’s kinda overkill being that I already have RDIO on my phone, but they charge an extra $5 a month for this, if I was really cheap I could use this approach to save.
Next on my radar is setting up Liquidsoap and trying to write some Python that’ll let me play around with scheduling tunes.
